HUNTER’S LESSON PLAN

SUBJECT:Events Leading Up to the Revolutionary War
NAME: Mariah Lowder

Rationale for selecting the learning outcomes:
It is important for students to grasp this information about the events leading up to the Revolutionary
War because it meets one of the standard course objectives. The lesson plan below will teach the
students the information that will be needed for the EOG, but in a creative, fun way. Hopefully by
asking the students to be creative with a bubble map (using bubbl.us) and talking head the students will retain
more of the information than if they just copied notes.

DATE: 11/7/2011 TIME ALLOTTED: 45 minutes
ORGANIZATION:
The students will be in groups of 4 to make a bubble map of ideas that they can use later when they
individually create their own “talking heads.”

Objectives (from NC Standard Course of Study):
2.01 - Trace the events leading up to the Revolutionary War and evaluate their relative significance in the onset of hostilities.
Student Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this lesson, students will:
choose one of the significant events leading up to the Revolutionary War after using Bubbleus and making
a bubble map of all the events and create a talking head telling how the event happened.
Teaching Mode:
- Direct
Provision for Individual Differences:
Make sure when the students in the groups can respectively work together.

Teaching Strategy(ies):
- Promote Discussion
- Present lecture
- Facilitate group work
